But first, meet my new obsession, the Tory Burch Kitty shoe, in black:

And in nude:

And in gold (swoon):

It was love at the first sight between me and the Kitties. I have been considering buying another pair of Reva flats as I wear my black ones so much, but when these came out I thought "Perfection" because they look a lot like the Revas but they are not completely flat and being 5'2" I could certainly use that one and a half inch of stacked heel (which should also make them a little bit more flattering with skirts and dresses than the Revas). They also look as comfortable as the Revas, with the same rubber sole.
Well, they are almost perfection. Because they are peep-toes, as you have certainly noticed. As a matter of fact I own only a pair of peep-toe shoes and I don't wear them much because, it seems, there is no season here for wearing them. In the spring rare are the days when it's not too cold to wear stockings but still not too warm to wear sandals. And I always thought that wearing sandals or peep-toes with stockings (not matter how clear) is a fashion misfit.
But maybe it's just me and I would like to hear your opinion on peep-toe shoes. Do you own a pair of peep-toe shoes? Do you wear them often? Are peep-toes only for the summer? BTW, there was a patent version of the Kitty in the winter, which means that someone wears them with stockings?
And now meet Sally, my alternative to the Kitty. In tumbled leather, Sally is Kitty's big sister, with a 2 and half inches stacked heel, and it comes with peep or closed toes.
Peep-toe Sally in tumbled leather (the color is royal tan):

And this is the closed-toe version (I could only get a picture of the black but it comes in the royal tan color as well):

Now, the promotion is 25% off everything on the site and free shipping for orders above $300 and I'm ready to pull the trigger on one of these (and a pair of Thora sandals, that are very rarely on sale, at least in the not-colored version), but just one, even if they are returnable.
Which one would you order for yourself? Do you think that I will get more use out of the Kitty (lower heel but peep-toe) or the Sally (higher heel but option of closed-toe)? Also, I prefer the royal tan in the Sally but I think that it's much more of a summery color choice, so it would make sense to have them with open-toes. So, if your overwhelming response is that peep-toes are summer shoes, I will probably go with the closed-toe Sally in black or the open-toe Sally in royal tan and wait for the Kitty (that is only available in black and coconut, a sort of grey, on the Tory Burch website. The other colors pictured above are from other retailer's websites). Hope that it makes sense ;-).
And now, the code (ENABLER ALERT): receive 25% off your purchase of $300 or more on Toryburch.com and enjoy free standard shipping when you enter BDAY at checkout (expires Monday 15th at 11.59 pm ET).
Unfortunately the Revas are excluded from the promotion but the code is valid on everything else on the site, including other much-coveted shoes that rarely go on sale (like the Thora and the Miller sandals).
Happy shopping (just stay away from my Kitties)!
oooh get the nude color ones! those are super cute! :)
ReplyDeleteI 2 pairs of of peep toes with a small wedge, but I live in the SF Bay Area so our climate is perfect for them. I do wear my 3rd pair, a black Corso Como shoe/bootie with black tights. The low wedge is darling. I like the nude best. I think if you wear a patterned pair of tights with the peep toes you're ok. Make sure the toe is NOT reinforced, the pattern of the tights should be visible and match the shoe, such as a fishnet. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteCorrection - not 12 pair of peep toes - 2 pairs-typo because we're watching Survivor :-)
ReplyDeleteI have to admit when I first saw this post I ran over to the TB site to use this promo on shoes. After looking through everything I wasn't impressed with much and the ones I wanted they didn't have in my size.
ReplyDeleteI own a couple pair of peep toes but I hardly wear them. I just think it's either cold or hot here and I usually do close toes or sandals. They are really pretty though. I had the Sally's in the black patent leather awhile ago and wore them once and sold them. I will say they are very comfortable but I don't wear heels often enough to keep them. However, if you wear heels a good amount you should definitely get the Sally's.
I love the kitten heel/wedge ones, in the nude color!! And I am also loving the MIller Sandals in the "lipstick pink" color. Thanks for the reminder, of the TB sale, but for now, I must only dream:)
ReplyDeleteWell, I live near Toronto so my climate is similar to yours. I have peep-toe shoes that I can really only wear 2 months of the year...but in saying that I am already biased towards the Sally in the tan/nude color, love them, and love the wedge heel. I myself prefer wearing a 2 and a 1/2 " heel, I love the height, if the shoe is comfortable.
ReplyDeleteI do not own any Tory Burch, and I will not be buying any this year...maybe someday? I have to wear out some other shoes first.
And you know me, I LIVE in my Vintage Roadsters! ;)
Is it bad that I am seriously considering blowing the rest of my tax return on the black Kitties? I think I'm in love.
ReplyDeleteI adore the tan ones, but logically, I need black shoes and the black ones are the only ones I could even semi-justify.
I have a pair of peep toe heels which I don't wear very often, but these I would wear at any chance I got. (Other peep toes are an odd copper color, and stilettos, so.)
I'm bummin' that I missed the code, now!
ReplyDeleteI've never purchased any Tory Burch before, how is the fit/sizing?
Thanks so much~
Lauren, yes they run TTS. I am a 7 and their 7 always fits me.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you missed the sale code. They are offering free shipping on orders over $250 until Feb. 28th (go to the website).
Thanks a lot! Yes, I think I'll order them now before the free shipping code expires (2.28). And I will stick to my usual 8 then, thanks for the heads up.
