Anyway, you would think that this was one of my Halloween weekend outfit, but I actually wore it yesterday to a playdate:

Last year cinnamon spice color is the most perfect shade of warm orange (this is the boatneck cashmere sweater). The toothpick cords (last year as well) are navy even if they probably read as black in the pics. The flats are the tortoise patent flats, a recent sample sale find. I have stalked these flats for so long on the website and on ebay before finding them at the sample sale and you know what? They are the most uncomfortable shoes that I have ever owned (and I include my highest heels). They are almost impossible to walk in so until I find a solution or sell them on ebay I am using them only for very short walks. They are terribly cute though and when I look at them I tell myself that I can suffer a little bit:

It is very cold here (in the low forties yesterday), so I put my winter gear in full rotation. Yesterday I wore my cloud puffer in glazed pecan:

I am glad that I bought this last year (even if I didn't "need" it), the color is to die for and I always get a lots of compliments when I wear it.
Today's outfit was more casual (not that yesterday's one was particularly dressy but you know what I mean) and you have seen a variant of it before but I want to show it anyway because 1) I bought the tissue turtleneck in dark rosewood when it went on sale to wear with the Dream draped v-neck sweater (aka "yoga" sweater), which, by the way, is incredibly cheap right now, and it's a perfect pairing for the cobblestone color, even if a little bit more dark or "plum" that I expected and 2) I want you to see how cute is the factory enamel critter charm necklace IRL (I bought the elephant one).
So here you go, the dream draped v-neck sweater in heather cobblestone with the dark rosewood tissue turtleneck and the elephant charm necklace:

A caveat about the elephant necklace is that it hits me right in the middle of the cleavage, so if you don't want to draw attention there you need to wear it over a turtleneck or a not too low cut top. It is even cuter than I thought though and the only problem that I have with it is that I can't wear it when my daughter is around, as she wants it for herself (in fact when I received it and tried it on she said "You can't wear it, it's mine!").
I also want to apologize if my mirror is dirty but "someone" loves to come and put her little fingers (which are always dirty) on it when I take pics, no matter how many times I clean it:
Have a great week!
Love the outfits! The dream draped, looks great w/the purple-ish turtleneck! I always pictured this cardigan, in the cobblestone color, with purple underneath, and a few necklaces....brown boots, perhaps. I am SO bummed, because now the cobblestone color is sold out in medium! If you got another one of these cardigans, what color would you get? Do you love it?? Cute necklace, love it!!
ReplyDeleteHi Ema. I commend you. I bought the tortoise flats last year and they are the worst for comfort. I agree, they rank high in cuteness, but I was miserable. This year's version looks more flexible, but were'nt available in my size to try on, so I'll wait for a sale and buy online. Looking at them again on you almost makes me want them again, however; my feet can't take it.
ReplyDeletemrs.anketell, I thought you had this one already? Anyway, I would definitively go with the heather nickel if available (they have a similar look), then the black one (if you don't have too many black sweaters already). My two least favorite ones are the pink and the bronzed olive (which is a color that I normally like but don't like in this sweater for some reason). HTH!
ReplyDeletePatina, I hear you. They ARE painful!
No!! I had it on hold at my store a few times, and then never got it!! I may call and see if they have any left. Darn, I had that in my hands so many times, and now it's gone:( I am thinking the light gray color or black, like you mentioned! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteregarding the tortoise flats, they are on my watch list on eBay, time to reconsider, thanks for the heads up. they are so cute aren't they
ReplyDeleteCute outfits! I am also waiting for the dream draped sweater in wild plum and can't wait to wear it. Finally it is sweater season here.
ReplyDeleteI love the puffer with the tortoiseshell flats, yu always look so well pulled together, I can only manage that when I'm going somewhere.
ReplyDeleteHi Ema,
ReplyDeleteI jut got those shoes at ebay, in my normal j crew size 6, and they are huge! they slip out of my feet, not that they are long, but they seem not to have a good grip. Was that your experience as well? Did you have to size down
after the break in period my tortoise flats are my most comfortable pair of shoes! What size do you wear, Ema? I'll happily buy them from you. I've been in the market for a second pair.
ReplyDeleteisabella, yes they do LOOK cute.
ReplyDeleterose, hope you like your draped v-neck!
Tabitha, thanks but as you have probably noticed I don't post all my outfits, I have my bad outfit days ;-). Like, today!
nobelle, yes mine do the same thing (without being huge). I am usually a 6.5 in JCrew leather flats (while I am normally a 7) but I sized up in these as I found the 6.5 pretty constrictive. They just have a bad fit IMO!
L, these are a 7 (let me know if you are interested, even if I am not ready to let them go yet). Glad that you are happy with yours. That's what I am hoping (that they will break) but no luck so far.
I also love/hate my tortoiseshell flats. I had to put leather inserts in them, but now they have stretched out width-wise so I can't wear them at all.
ReplyDeleteI do own the Juliet heels in the tortoiseshell, but I never wear them. I love the look of them though!
Ema, I have those same flats! Like you, I found them excrutiating and I wouldn't give up on them becuase they are so danged cute. Here's the solution - a shoe stretcher. I got one on amazon.com, and it worked really well. Normally you need to stretch for 24 hours. With these flats I had to do it twice, for two separate 24 hour periods. Now I can wear them all day.
ReplyDeleteI have to laugh about your cute but uncomfortable shoes comment! I just bought the j crew Cadogan black tall riding boots from ebay and they are perfection...to look at anyway! I ordered my regular size 8.5 and they must be a full size short! I have had them stretched twice and they still rub a blister on the top of my toes if I wear them for more than an hour! Alas, I will suffer through it bc they are THAT perfect...and that is something my husband would surely scoff at! :)
