However, I didn't want to spend $390 in shoes, so now I have to return at least one pair before my husband notices on the Amex receipt, two pairs would be better, but really, I can't decide, they are one more beautiful than the other. So, I need a little bit of help here.
Here is the first pair, the less expensive. This is the only pair that I kind of "need", to replace a pair of Steve Madden silver slip-ons that bite the dust at the end of the summer last year. I have two golden sandals, but I need a silver pair after I finally decided to return the JCrew crystal capris of my post here (I came to realize that even if they had crystals they still looked like beach flip-flops and in no way like evening shoes. So, I'm still dreaming about those Giuseppe Zanotti...).
Here they are on the floor:

And on my feet:

I'm not sure that the pics make them justice, they are less "bold" than they look and they will look great with summer dresses.
The second pair is a pair of flat that reminds me of the Marc Jacobs "mouse" flats. I think that they are adorable but I'm not sure if I can wear these with many outfits. This is the pair that I'm less sure about, maybe I don't love them THAT much but I love the IDEA of them:

On my feet:

And the last pair, the more expensive ($179 but I had a 15% off coupon). OMG! I can't believe that these eneded up at Lohemann's. I kept an eye on them all the season last year and I couldn't get one pair on sale (they were gone in my size after the 30% off markdown, which wasn't enough). There is a catch, though: they are a half size too small (I'm a 7 and these are 6.5). I don't think that it's really a problem (the lenght is just fine, as Sigerson Morrison shoes tend to be long) but I have to say that they are a little bit snug (I didn't feel it in the store but only at home) and I won't do a marathon with these.
Floor view (did I mention that I need a pair of silver shoes?):

Air view on my feet:

Oh, please don't tell me that I have to return these ...
This is urgent as I have to decide by tomorrow morning and your input is much appreciated!
Whatever you do, you cannot return the last pair!! They are beautiful but those are just perfection.
ReplyDeleteOh what a decision! I love them all.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard for me to make pick between the two silver pairs without seeing an outfit to go with them- not that I am saying you need to post a whole outfit, I know that takes quite an effort. I guess I would go with #1 but I really like the fringe on #3. So hard.
I have a pair of Prada flats that I bought on super deep discount but they are half a size to small and I think I have worn them maybe 2x in the year that I have had them. I need to buy me some tube socks and wear them with the flats around the house to see if that might strecth them a tad. That said, your flats are my fav of all 3 pairs of shoes that you bought. If you can make them owrk I would say they are a keeper.
Return the first two and keep the ones you've been lusting after for so long. They were meant to be yours!
ReplyDeleteI vote for the third pair - they are really unique and a bit special and seem to fit you perfectly.
ReplyDelete2 is an investment pair you can wear in fall, spring, and summer so you need to get those, and three is the pair of sandals for summer 09, you really need to get at least one pair of sandals every summer :-)
ReplyDeleteYou can justify anything if you put your mind to it!!!
While I LOVE the third, I feel like I should give you the "tough love" advice (I know I would totally need to hear it if it were me). The third pair is adorable! But if they don't fit, they don't fit. You already know that. You have a picture of your feet in the snazzy shoes- hold on to the pic for memories. :) Who knows, they might cross your path in the right size later on down the road.
ReplyDeleteThe second pair, if you're having a tough time imagining them with your wardrobe, take those back too. Go with your gut.
First pair- keep. You say these are the ones you need the most anyway, right? And total bonus- they are the least expensive of all! *Enter happy hubby* :)
I wold pick the mouse pair - but only because (as an innocent third party) it sounds like those are the pair you are least excited about. And you're not sure if you can wear them with many of your outfits? The two (silver) sandals win. :)
ReplyDeleteI like the 1st pair and the 3rd pair the best! But if the 3rd pair really are a bit tight then you might as well return them because you probably will not wear them much!:( Wear them around the house for a while and see how your feet feel after that- I ALWAYS have to do that! Good luck... I feel your pain!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the 3rd pair, and they don't look small at all (I think a size 7 would actually be too long for you). Having said that, if they are not comfortable, you won't wear them and should return them. Have you tried a shoe stretcher? I have had great success and this shape would work perfectly (I assume it's snug across the front?).
ReplyDeletei love the third pair!!! how cute! If you decide to sell, let me know sine i'm a 6.5 ! :-)
ReplyDeleteThe third pair, the SMs, are to DIE for. They are stunning. But I hope they don't hurt your feet so much that you won't wear them.
ReplyDeleteThe first pair are fab too! They seem like the perfect slip on pair - you'll get a lot of wear out them. Keep!
Your pedi is aborable!
#1 - Keep. These seem to go w/the style of clothes you've purchased as of late. Also they seem to replace a shoe that is already worn down.
ReplyDelete#2 - Gasped when I saw these. LOVE. However, if pink is your new black then you wouldn't wear these. At least not till Fall. There will be other temptations in Aug/Sep/Oct.
#3 - They don't fit properly. Price is not worth keeping them. I personally didn't like these, but that's just my opinion. I agree to keep the photo of them. Sometimes that will suffice.
Ema, you HAVE to keep the last pair. I'd keep the first, too. The second pair can go.
ReplyDeleteI am right in line with Gigi, on her recommendations (she is so smart). I have kept beautiful tight shoes, and I wear them once or twice and then they sit in the box because they inflict pain at the thought of wearing them again.
ReplyDeleteIs there any way that pair #3 could be stretched so they aren't tight?
Thank you SO much for all your precious advice ladies!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like number 3 would be the favorite besides the (annoying) problem of the size. I agree that I hear a little voice in the back of my mind that tells me "don't buy these, they will hurt and you won't wear them that much" (MMM: I walked around the house wearing them today and I didn't feel perfectly comfortable).
Kate (and Heidi): yes, they are snug across the front but I don't know if a stretcher would work with this style, I'm afraid that that would damage the sewing of the strap?
But maybe I'm thinking of another type of strtcher.
Gigi, I totally agree with you re. the second pair. They are beautiful but a little bit off season right now and am I going to wear silver shoes in the fall/winter?
Emily, I tried the three of them with the same dress today and wanted to post updated pics but my husband came back from work early and almost caught me with my three pairs aligned in the bedroom!
Unfortunately they all looked great with the dress, with a preference for number 1.
PaperBagPrincess: you're right I think I will get a lot of wear out of number one.
And thanks for the compliment on the pedi (the nail polish is essie "Mini shorts")
Anon, I appreciate the tough love advice, I think you're completely right. And there is an extra bonus for keeping #1: I can then return the Jcrew silver capris that I bought with the red card (for $33) because I won't need them any longer (they have the same funcion in my wardrobe), so they will be even cheaper.
So, as of tonight what I plan to do is to take them with me to return (along with number 2, RatsOnParade you're right, my heart isn't in those) but look for my size while I'm there (you never know, maybe someone had put a pair on hold and decided not to buy them or they could be in the wrong box - it happens all the time in places like Lohemann's). I hope to be strong enough to return them if I don't find my size!
I will keep you posted on how it went!
I vote that you return the 2nd pair. Nothing super special about them. Keep the first and third. They are lovely :)
ReplyDeleteKeep the first pair and return the 2nd and 3rd pair. The first pair is super cute and super flattering. The second pair is as you said a bit off season...I think Gigi gave great advice. The third pair is stunning, but they don't fit so save your money for a time when you find shoes that are great deal and FIT!
ReplyDeleteYour advice has been so helpful ladies, thank you, thank you thank you!
ReplyDeleteI did as I had decided to do, returned pair 2 and 3 and kept pair 1. I didn't feel any pain or regret, so I think I made the good choice. Thanks to yur comments I came to realize that I didn't buy the third pair on sale last year because I didn't find my size (I didn't even look for a 6 1/2 at that time) so it didn't make any sense to buy them now if they don't fit properly, even for a great price.
Best of all, after making a scene (which I never do) in the store and talking to the manager, they let me have a price adjustement on the first pair with the 15% coupon that I had used and "waisted" on the most expensive pair, so they came down to $73 which is a steal for a pair of SM shoes.
I can't wait to wear them!
I know I am probably late but the last pair are so nice. They look great on your feet. I am sure you will get loads of wear out of them.
