I would have loved to wear the jacket + tiered ruffle skirt outfit of my previous post but it was unseasonally cold and just about to pour when we were ready to leave. So this is the outfit that I wore instead:

Featuring Jcrew Georgia cardigan in warm blush, ruffle tissue tank in natural, Cafe capri in black. The Georgia cardigan is a good alternative to the warmer Michelle and I really like this color for the evening but I must say that it can't be worn closed with the tissue ruffle tank, there is just too much tissue. I put a little bit of effort in the jewelry:

It was a lovely evening but my daughter, who is usually very good when we eat out, started to say "Andiamo?" (Can we go? in italian) as soon as we arrived at the restaurant and she didn't stop until we actually left. Life with kids...
And now, the shoes. The shoes that I'm wearing in the first pic are not the ones that I wore Tuesday night for the simple reason that I bought them yesterday (I wore my Tory Burch black Reva instead).
Yes, I splurged again on shoes but these are really worth it plus summer sale season is open and I always buy a pair of designer shoes during the sales. I normally buy much later in the season, around my birthday which is in July, because that's when one can find very good deals, but I'm afraid that this year the inventory is going to be much lower and I have an "average" size (a 7) that sells out quickly (I wish I wore a 35.5, lucky you 35.5 ladies).
They are Miu Miu and I have been eyeing them for a very long time. When I got a flyer in the mail from Chuckies, a high-end NYC shoes store, saying that they were having a private sale starting yesterday I knew that I was going to splurge on these. However, even with the % off, the price came with a shock. I mean, I knew more or less what the sale price would be but I always hope for a miracle at the register when buying expensive shoes. Like the price marked isn't the real price and in reality they are much cheaper. Or the SA makes a mistake. Or they were in the wrong box. I always hope because it actually happened to me to pay much less than expected (of course I didn't investigate, by scare that the SA would find out too that it was a mistake).
Anyway, I paid what I paid but I'm absolutely convinced that they will be a classic in my wardrobe. They are luxurious (because of the stones) and wearable at the same time (because they are flats). Here they are:

Like the Reva, they have an elastic all around, but I love that they are open-toe. I also like that the color is between gold and bronze, so it's easier to pair than the pure gold. The stones are absolutely stunning and best of all ... they are my size. Here are in my feet (with the Nars nail polish that seems to be made for them):

They are final sale meaning that I can't return them, so if you really don't like them or think that they are not worth the splurge, please don't comment!!! I mean, you don't have necessarely like what I like but I have just spent a considerable amount of money in these and I'm not sure that I'm ready to hear that I made a mistake and consequently change my mind.
Do you plan to buy earlier this sale season or are you going to wait for the prices to drop further?

ReplyDeleteI think the shoes are beautiful!!! It's amazing how versatile metallic shoes can be. They go with so much.
ReplyDeleteI love the new Miu Miu flats. They are very pretty on you! I think your B-day outfit for DH was very pretty too.
ReplyDeletenew flats are way cute - love them!
ReplyDeleteAlso love the outfit for hubby's bday dinner - very nice!!
I think those shoes are fabulous and will be a great addition to your wardrobe!
ReplyDeleteOMG---------first of all, LOVE the outfit!! Love the color of your cardigan (i keep seeing it in store, on sale, and wanting to buy it!! not that i need another cardigan, but....) the ruffle tank, and black capri's---absolutely perfect. I could actually make a similar outfit with what i have! What necklace do you have on? It looks really pretty.
ReplyDeleteNow: your shoes. AN ABSOLUTE SCORE!! HA! I love them. Open toe, with stones, and goldy/bronzey...love!!! I think you will be happy you bought these for a loooooooooooong time:)
oh yeah....do you find the Georgia cardigan is same length/fit of Michelle....or not?
ReplyDeleteFantastically gorgeous shoes ... and aren't those cafe capris just about the best pants ever made?
ReplyDeletelove,love the shoes.
ReplyDeleteina
Wow - those shoes take my breath away. Keepers!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy that you like the shoes ladies!
ReplyDeleteAnon @ 5:11 pm, thank you for letting us know about this. Ladies I have clicked on the link and all the major brands are there. What a wonderful way to shop!
Anon @ 5:23 pm, I agree, metallic shoes are very versatile. In fact those also come in a tan leather but I preferred the metalic version.
Emily and Heidi, thank you!
Summerilla, I saw your gold Reva and I'm sure you would love them as much.
Mrs.anketell, thank you for asking about the necklace. This necklace has a sentimental value to me because I bought it with my parents many many years ago (I was 20) during a trip to London (at the Portobello market). It looks like antique jewelry but it was very cheap.
The Georgia cardigan is shorter than the Michelle but more elegant because of the shawl collar and more sheer because of the fabric. I've tried it with a short-sleeved tee and you can see the sleeve. It's definitively better with tanks. The color is really pretty and I would definitively buy it on sale!
Stylestance, thank you. I love the capris but I bought these the summer when I gave birth and they are a little big now (they are a size 4). However, they are the only pair of black summer pants that currently I have in my closet, so when I need to wear black I have no choice! I'm on a quest to replace my old favorite black summer pants (they are too worn out and sadly I can't wear them any longer) but so far I haven't found any that like as much as the old ones.
Ina, I've never told you but I appreciate your enthousiasm! Please keep posting!
Gigi, glad that you like them, but they are a keeper by definition (can't return them) lol.
I haven't commented on your blog before now, but I love it.
ReplyDeleteYour dinner outfit was beautiful...and the shoes! I can see why you kept thinking about them. No matter what they cost, if you love something that much, it was meant to be (and one can always cut back on other things to make up for it).
Also love the story of your daughter saying "Andiamo". We have a motorboat at our summer cottage, and we named the boat "Andiamo"--my husband thought it would be a perfect name!
Hi Ann, thank you for posting. So funny that you named your boat "Andiamo". Are you or your husband italian? Or opera lovers?
ReplyDeleteSo far the gratest name for a boat that I had heard of was "Ca va aller" (French for something like "It's going to be OK" and if you got to see the boat you would understand. It was in Cameroun, enough said) but "Andiamo" is the runner-up.
Splendid shoes! What Nars nail shade are you wearing?
ReplyDeleteAnon, I'm wearing the Orgasm shade (that came out this winter and matches the lipgloss). It's the best shade ever! Plus I love Nars polishes because they are very easy to apply.
ReplyDeletewow, I've been looking at the same shoes for a while in Barney's and its $550.00, you are a lucky girl...
ReplyDeleteLove the shoes....
Ema--no, neither of us is Italian...but have traveled there a bit (just enough to know a very small number of words, such as "Andiamo"!).
