First the good: they look more expensive than what they are (I wouldn't say high-end but you wouldn't think that they are Gap). The suede is a nice quality and even if the sole isn't leather they are nicely finished and the wedge is very comfortable. I personally like the golden hardware, I don't think it looks cheap at all. So, out of the box (actually, I should say out of the the plastic bag) they looked very promising and really cute. The color is a little bit lighter than on the website pic:

However, they didn't lived up to my expectations when I tried them on. I couldn't size down as they don't come in half sizes but they do run big, not in terms of length but the part that laces up and should tighten the ankle is loose fitting, at least on me. And let me tell you that I never had particularly thin ankles and calves. In fact for many years if asked what part of my body I would have changed if I had a magic wand, I would have replied my ankles and calves (nobody never asked because I am not famous and nobody ever interviewed me and asked me these kind of questions but that would have been my answer).
I wish I had more pics to show you but my camera's battery died on me, so I hope you get the idea. I tried them with bootcut jeans and half covered by the jeans they look pretty nice:

Side view of the wedge:

And this is a view from above to show you that there is a inch gap between my leg and the bootie's leather:

Granted, I still have to try them with tights but I don't think that they are going to be flattering anyway. I think the top of the bootie should be a inch or two lower and closer to the ankle. You can see that they cut the leg:

I did try them with the Minnies in the same color and didn't like how they looked together.
So they didn't work for me, but for the price you should give them a try as it is a question of fit. If you have very long legs and you can wear them with thick socks or tights, you are probably going to rock them.
Do you have these? What do you think? Are you tempted?
By the way, I hadn't the time to go into a Gap since I came back. If you know of a promo going on now in stores, please share!
I did shop from Gap yesterday and must comment that the Boy Fit pants are fantastic! I fit into a size 0 or 2, took a zero in these pants and the fit was very nice. Lengthwise it's long, but when worn with heels the tapered leg looks great. Also, on my receipt it stated that if I did their customer survey I would receive 20% off any regular priced item. So I went ahead and did the survey and at the end you write down the code and present it in-store for the discount. With that said, I'm going back to get those pants :) HTH!
ReplyDeleteI was waiting to see if you were going to do a Gap Wed. post:) I did see these boots in store, but they just were not for me. Something about them just doesn't jive with me! Any other gap picks?
ReplyDeleteMomoberry, thanks for the suggestion on the Boy Fit pants, I will look for them the next time.
ReplyDeleteThere ian offer in store: all the women and men's pants are $35 (not sure how long it's going to last).
mrs.anketell, I do have another pick but I have just ordered it and haven't seen it IRL yet. It's their new puffer vest and I ordered it in brown mustard and true black (not sure how the brown mustard is IRL but I hope for a caramel). By the way, receive 25% off on full price items with code GAPNEW (and free shipping on orders of $50 and more with code GAPSHIP50). I will review it when I receive them.
They look quite cute on and probably wouldn't have checked them out had it not been for your review. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI got the boots in both colors with a promo. I like the camel ones better, softer suede I think, but I like both pairs a lot. I have worn them with same color tights so they don't cut off my legs, but actually elongate the look of my legs. I like that they add height but are easy to walk in! Yes, they seem a bit full cut but they fit me fine! I know the laces could lace more tightly.... but they are fun!
