OOTD and A Few Sale Picks

It is POURING today and I had to walk more than ten blocks in the rain, all trying to look polished at arrival. I am going to show you my outfit at the end of this post, if I have time (it doesn't involve any new item). First, I wanted to post a few of my sale picks that I have received this week (except for one, that I bought and received earlier). The real trigger of my order was the Scalopped lace shell. I am very surprised that this one didn't sell out during the recent 40% (I got mine with the 30% off). For a mere $27 it is a great piece to own, as it substantial enough that it can be worn now under a sweater/jacket and later on its own. I almost think that it was worth the original price of $69.50 but I had initially settled on the black one as ivory tends to wash me out and decided to wait for a sale as I have a few black tops already (who doesn't?). I ended up throwing the ivory too in my order because for the life of me I couldn't find anything else to reach the free shipping minimum that would be returnable. To my surprise, I really, really like the ivory. It fits perfectly in the XS but because the cotton in the back is a little bit sheer, it shows the lines of your bra. Side view:
When I put it on, I immediately thought of an outfit with my newly acquired crocodile-print pencil skirt (that I have been chasing for years and finally showed up on the JCA for a very decent price) and factory mosaic necklace (this is the item that I bought during a previous 30% off. It should still popback and even if it wasn't exactly what I was excpecting I have so many things to pair with these colors that I am happy with it):
While I think that I am going to wear the ivory shell mostly in the summer, the black one has a more wintery feeling to it. It is more slimming as you can see and it can be dressed up or down. I am trying it with the cafe capris in wool in camel and the factory pluma necklace. This is my second pair of cafe capris (as you know I have the yatch blue ones) and the 0 felt much smaller than the other ones that I have, almost a size smaller. I almost took them back but I wore them a little bit around the house and they stretched out a bit. I have to say, I really like this outfit:
Close-up of the necklace:
This necklace makes a nice statement but it isn't as pretty as the retail version IMO. I paid $28, which is OK, but the quality is definitively different. OK, I have to go to pickup my daughter and I don't have time to post my outfit, maybe another day. Thanks for reading and if you have any questions, let me know.

  1. Both lace shells looked so pretty on you! What great choices. And I'm totally loving the necklaces. I never think to check out Factory for jewelry.

  2. Thanks for posting this, I've been debating the lace shell in either color for a while now...of course I've just missed the promos, but another one will come around pretty soon. Would you say it runs true to size?

  3. I really like the shell. That was the only thing that I wanted to order during the promo, but I resolved to be good.
The rain today was unreal, so glad it's over.

  4. kristen, thanks. Factory is a bit of a hit or miss but I have always been lucky with their jewelry. I have a few necklaces and I am happy with them but I typically buy only when the prices come down to more than reasonable.

Sue, I would say that it is TTS to a bit small. In case of doubt I would size up. Let's hope that they will be on promo (and not fs) during the next % off.

A, it was the same for me too and I blame it on the shell that I ended up ordering for $175. I really couldn't suck-up the shipping this time. But I am happy with everything in my order in the end so it worked out well.

  5. I never saw the retail pluma, so I am very, very happy with my factory version. It was hard to track down *and* I paid shipping, so perhaps I am convincing myself more than I normally would? *lol* I really like it though and it goes w/many JC pieces.
