I have been wearing a lot of stripes recently. Not only I am wearing my JCrew pink and camel vintage boatneck tees quite frequently, but I also bought a striped knit cotton sweater from the Gap two weeks ago that I wore quite a lot already as it is the perfect weight for the season (very thin). This was my yesterday OOTD:

As the comments on the website say, it goes really well with khaki pants:

It is a little bit pricey in my opinion but I bought it with one of 40% off in-store coupons that are only valid on Wednesdays (by the way, take 20% off adults styles online with code GAPSPRING now through Thursday). I must admit that the real reason why I bought it was to play matchy-matchy with my daughter, who has a similar top from Petit Bateau (from last year), that you have already seen in my Easter weekend post:

Petit Bateau is extremely expensive in the US compared to Europe, so I mostly buy when they have their big sale twice a year (or I "order" stuff for my daughter through my parents in Italy). However, I went into the store two weeks ago to buy a birth present for a girlfriend who just had a girl and they were running a promo where you got 20% off one out of three items bought (and you could choose the item). So along with the present I couldn't resist buying this top for me:

It has the weight of a sweatshirt and golden nautical buttons on one shoulder:

Petit Bateau is available in the US through their website (you get 25% off full price items in your first order if you subscribe) and Zappos (for kids only). Buying Petit Bateau through Zappos could be more expensive (as their sales are not great) but worth it to check out their styles and fit thanks to their awesome one-year return policy (and free shipping/free returns policy as well).
To go back to my outfit of the day, it was was windy yesterday, so I topped my sweater with this coat from 2007 (I remember that it was 2007 because I bought it for very cheap just after my daughter was born):

It is the one with the pretty striped colored lining:

Do you buy Petit Bateau? Are you wearing stripes?
Have a great start of the week!
I love the pic of both of you in your Breton stripes!
ReplyDeleteI just bought a striped t shirt from Zara today, I'll post on it later on in the week. I really want the longer length one from J crew but my size has long since gone.
I love stripes and Petit Bateau! I don't own PB's (a bit pricey) but my little girls have several cotton onesies, tees and matching underwear.
ReplyDeleteLove the gold buttons on that top and that JC jacket is so cute!
I also like that matchy top with your daughter. So cute to dress similar. I try to dress in same color scheme or theme with my daughters when I have the time to make effort. :-)
I have never bought Petit Bateau--however, I have always been intrigued. LOOOOOVE the striped top from Gap. Does it run big? Or tts? How long is it? I am very interested and love it so much!! Cute matchy outfits with your daughter--when i have this baby girl, I cannot wait to wear "mommy and me" outfits, haha:)
ReplyDeletep.s. thanks for the Gap code, btw!!
ReplyDeleteStripes! One of my spring "obsessions" (as Jenna would say)
ReplyDelete:)
The stripes on you are so cute. I super love the navy sweater w/the gold buttons. Love-eth!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the comments ladies!
ReplyDeletemrs.anketell, the Gap top runs TTS. The site says that the fit is "slouchy" but I don't think so, at least not in the same way than the same word is used in the JCrew catalog. It is more fitted in the shoulders/sleeves area than at the waist for sure and the fabric (100% cotton) tends to stretch out. And it isn't a long top, it hits me more or less at the hips (it has a ribbed hem) and as you know I am 5'2". It is very comfortable to wear, highly reccomended. Hope it helps!
Gigi, thanks for stopping by!
thanks, for the review on the cute Gap sweater!!!! I appreciate it!!
