I am a little bit surprised that the skirt has so many fans actually because the style is the same than the Tie dyed Wednesday skirt and I was under the impression by reading the comments left by other JCAs that there wasn't a consensus on it (but I must be wrong because I see that it is almost sold-out now on the website).
Anyway, in case you are wondering, the Jaipur skirt too is short, short, short. Even shorter than the wednesday skirt because for some reasons it tends to sit even higher on the waist (at least on me) and pouch more because it is linen. But unlike the wednesday skirt, it doesn't look good belted, IMO.
These are the pics from the fitting room, with the white popover that I was wearing that day (you can see that this time I decided that I would rather be barefoot than try it with the loafers):

Once home, I tried to pair it with something that I have. It is an easy skirt for sure and it can be worn with a simple tee, as the print is stunning by itself (this is the painter scoopneck tee from last summer, bought for very cheap):

My champagne Jackie is a good match (the color of the skirt is more ivory than white):

In the pics above I was wearing the Cate slingbacks from last spring but I'm going to wear it more with flats. I loved it with my Miu Miu embellished peep-toe flats from last year:

Now, I have been invited to a private jewelry event at the Collection store this Thursday, with cocktails and the JCrew jewelry designer Lisa Finkelstein (it's the first time ever, since I am not a cardmember and these events are usually reserved to cardholders, and when the SA handed me the invitation I felt like I had won at the lottery) and I was planning to wear this skirt (weather permitting) with an old DVF cropped jacket (that I bought a few years ago at a sample sale and I almost put on ebay because I thought that I wouldn't wear it any longer) and the bauble necklace in soft violet:

I hope that this post was useful to those who have heard about this skirt without seeing it IRL (it is store-only for the time being)!
What do you think of this skirt? Would you buy it after seeing it in these pics? Do you think that it's too short on me? Do you like the outfit that I plan to wear?
I think this skirt looks great on you--not too short at all. You have the figure to pull it off! I am not so lucky. When I saw it in my local store, I passed it by and didn't even try it on, knowing it would be too short for me. I do adore the print, though. I wish JC would make some longer skirts!
ReplyDeleteI love the final outfit!! And I don't think it's too short at all- but I'm a fan of JC's shorter skirts.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading your comment on the JCA blog I knew I had to get my hands on one of these! =P I got the item # and did a WWFIFY search and the skirt is now waiting for me at home (just got the delivery conf.)!! I can't wait to get home so I can see it IRL and try it on! I am reeeeally hoping that it fits me 'cause I have a feeling that I won't be able to find another size!?!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, thanks for sharing! The skirt looks great on you! Enjoy the private jewelry event~ sounds like a blast!! :)
Yes, you have the figure and looks fabulous on you so you should wear it! I also like it styled the way you did with the jacket and necklace.
ReplyDeleteI bought the skirt last weekend and plan to wear it lower on my waist since it is a bit short on me. I love the print, but the only part that's bugging me is that the patterns do not quite match up on the sides (at least mine is a bit off). :-)
Hi! I recently started reading your blog, and I love it. Your writing is so honest and real.
ReplyDeleteThe skirt + DVF jacket + necklace look great on you!
Cute as a button on you. I am jealous you can wear it at your waist...just tried that look out and it was really short on me...so I will have to stick with wearing it on my hips so it isn't an indecent length on my 5'8" frame. :)
ReplyDeleteI like it styled simply, but then I am a HUGE fan of wearing linen pieces in the summer with no more than a tank and some sandals and maybe a simple necklace. LOL. I know, me, the girl who loves a great statement necklace or two (or three).
I think it looks great on you! Would love to wear it but it is just too short for me! Enjoy the event. I was at the Collection store last summer and they were very gracious.
ReplyDeleteIt's very cute, but why are skirts so ridiculously short lately? They're totally inappropriate for work, hence worthless to me. :(
ReplyDeleteI'd wear it if I had the bubble necklace and the DVF jacket, that outfit loks great!
ReplyDeleteYou have styled the skirt very well. I love it w/the bubble necklace and the cardi. Perhaps when the weather is warmer and you are wearing less clothes, the skirt won't feel so short.
ReplyDeletethat skirt is absolutely gorgeous on you! I have those same Cate slingbacks so I should try it. Have a fabulous time at the jewelry event!!
