OOTD: Like an Easter Egg

I recently bought a "spring coat" at Zara on very deep sale. I was very excited as it looked very Chanel-esque to me but when I showed it to my good friend, partner in fashion mischiefs, she said that I looked like an Easter egg. Well, I still liked it and if it looks Easter-y, I will wear it on Easter, I thought.

Yesterday the weather cooperated, it was sunny and warmer than it has been in the last week, so I took it out to lunch downtown (my husband rolled his eyes when he saw me). What I like in this coat is that it has a very modern and streamlined silhouette, I agree with my friend that the fabric (that containes metallic threads) and cut could make it look matrony but it doesn't, in my opinion. And remember I paid the price of a JCrew tee shirt. I also plan to wear it out to dinner later in spring as technically I don't have a spring coat (it is lined in a silk-like material but it isn't something that you put on to keep you warm as it is very lightweight).
I wore it with a JCrew cashmere cardigan in a similar shade of pink:

So what do you think? If you agree with my friend it's OK, I will still like it and you ;-).

Happy Easter to you you all!

  1. I love it! And, I am sure you will agree that this is one of the first springs in a while where we could actually use our spring coats. And, if you look at Style.com (Vogue's website) you will see that they forecast "candy colored coats" to be a big trend this coming fall. Your coat would be lovely over a turtleneck too.
    Happy Easter!

  2. It is wonderful on you. I love the look of "matronly" on young women. It's so in your face, but this is not matronly at all. The epaulettes make it more military to me. I also like it with jeans, and the length make it fresh too.

Can't say about the color - to hard to tell in photos but at the price you paid, even one season is still a good cost per wear model.

  3. Well I really like it! I wish I had a new spring coat! I bought a fatigue coat from H&M a couple of weeks back for walking the dog and slogging around, but I would love a little dressy tweed number like that! I will have to start checking Zara online now that they ship to Canada! have a fabulous day!

  4. I like it, it is candy coloured but in a good way, it's actually very soft and pastel and looks great with your denim.
    Happy Easter Ema!

  5. Ema, I think the candy colour is tempered by the gold buttons and the fabric texture/ pattern, as well as denim. It is "showy," but that's also because we've all been buried in black coats for 5 mos. Enjoy your deal and wear it when you can - the spring coat season is a short one.

  6. I think the epaulettes look a little over-powering on your frame, but perhaps that's just the picture. I certainly don't think it looks matronly. I think it's a perfect spring coat, and even better that it was so cheap!
I would move those epaulettes. But that's just me.

  7. I like it- I think it makes the statement that you you want. Also, if you like it you will wear it with the proper attitude that will carry it off. I think you will be pleased with it

  8. I saw that jacket irl and it definitely caught my eye. It's not Easter or Easter egg-y at all and Chanel briefly came to mind when I saw it on the rack. Like a funked up, modernized version in a longer length. Thumbs up from me ;)
