New Year's Eve Outfit

It's officially 2010, so Happy New Year again everybody!
I just wanted to post my New Year's Eve outfit (while hubby is napping. Poor thing he got up at 5.30 to give my daugther her morning milk).

We stayed at home yesterday night. We tried to organize a New Year's Eve dinner with friends at our place but it didn't work, so in the end it was just the two (er ... three, of us).
My husband cooked (scallops and lobsters, yummy!), so all I had to do was dressing up for the occasion and enjoy.
I had a couple of outfits in mind but in the end I decided for the silk tiered cami and black toothpick jeans for comfort (and my pinkish Marjorie flats):

And yes, that's the bubble necklace in soft violet, the one that came in pieces and I had to reorder. I was struggling to find a necklace to wear with the cami (I didn't want a golden necklace) and at the last minute I tried the bubble that was still in the Jcrew box and LOVED it with the tiered cami (it brightens up the deep aubergine of the cami and also flattens a little bit the front tiers). This was the first time that I wore it and I'm happy to report that this one wasn't defective and didn't break during the evening, even when I danced on the notes of Jaromiquai's "Canned Heat" (one of my favorite dance songs).
BTW, the pic above is the first one taken by my husband especially for the blog (he always refused): that's a fresh start!

We spent a very nice evening and for the first time since we moved in this apartment two years ago I got to stay up and enjoy the fireworks from the window of our bedroom (last year I was asleep by 10):

Enjoy your first weekend of 2010!

  2. Sounds like a fun evening and wow, you got your Hubby to participate in your blog! Next we will see one of his outfits. (Just kidding). I love the violet necklace against the Aubergine of the ruffle top - that was the perfect choice! I have that top in the papaya and I think a big necklace is perfect with the style. Happy 2010. :)

  7. I also ordered the black toothpick jeans and am glad I did! I got the ankle length which is perfect as regular length on me b/c of my height. I love the cami on you with the necklace. You know at first glance the necklace looked just huge on the site but when you wear it, it's really one of the best I've bought this year (I have the grey graphite color).
