All Laced Up

I bought this dress yesterday at the Calypso "clearance" store in Soho (where goes all the final sale merchandise from the other stores). It is made from the softest suede and it feels heavenly on the skin. The best part was the price: $74, down from $500 (don't you love when you can have something that was completely out of reach for the price of two tees?). Obviously I couldn't resist, even if at first the ties at the neckline bothered me a little bit and I thought that I would maybe take it to the tailor and change that part.
But when I came home I realized that the dress is almost the same color of my JCrew Dorian wedges (another 40% off great buy. If these shoes pop back in your size BUY them, they are fabulous and mommy-friendly because the wedge is not too high), so I decided that I am going to fully embrace my squaw side. I am calling this look "squaw chic" (bow and arrows are optional):

Usually I don't buy into the "wear it now with tights and boots, wear it later without tights" sale pitch (I just think that I have enough clothes to wear them when it's the season to wear them) but I love how this can be winterized and transformed into a completely different look (I know, I don't have tights and boots in these pics but just use your imagination):

BTW, the mohair sweater that I am wearing is also from Calypso and you can buy it here for a song (50% off final sale price with code FINALSALE112. Warning: this code applies only to the items in the final sale section and not the regular sale items). The dress comes also in a silk version that is currently in the final section of the website as well (here). In the final sale section I also reccomend this other dress. I have it in navy and it fits like a dream (but it is short as you can see in these old fitting room pic):

I have more Calypso pics, stay tuned!

  1. Love Calypso!! How does that second dress fit compared to the Pazzi dress (the shift that you have in white)? Same sizing? Do you happen to remember if the "outlet" store (in Soho) has it - or is it online only? Thanks!

  2. Shoppy shops, they didn't have it at the outlet, it is from last summer so probably they only have it on the website now (it is actually a popback).
I bought the same size than my Pazzi dress. Because of the defined waist and the belt (that is incorporated into the dress) it looks more fitted than the Pazzi but all in all I would say that they fit the same. It is shorter than the Pazzi though and I would say that it's a style for shorties. HTH!

  5. Ema, thanks so much for your detailed reply!! Really appreciate it. Such a nice dress...thinking I might indulge (though I was supposed to be on a shopping hiatus). Have several Pazzi dresses and love them...thinking this might be a nice alternative. (I'm short, so I'm not too worried about the length.) Thanks again!
