Summer is Back for a Day (OOTD)

I'm sorry if I haven't blogged much last week but I have been busier than usual with some paperwork and with finding the best deal for a January vacation in the Caribbean that my husband absolutely wanted to book this week (he was like "we need to book this week or we don't go", and I wasn't letting it go away) but I felt VERY lazy, which has never been a good combination because you end up spending much more time to do the stuff that you have to do anyway. On the top of that we had a week of winter-cold weather that really put me in a "I just want to stay home and watch TV" mood and I just couldn't drag myself and my daughter on a shopping trip to find some shoes and cardigan/cropped jacket to wear to at the wedding.
So I had to do with what I already owned for the wedding but I don't want to talk about it right now (I hope that you can wait one more day to see what I wore and hear how it went).

Today I just want to post a pic of my outfit of the day because it was a gorgeous summer day and even if I had already put away my summer clothes, I just HAD to wear the Monterey linen striped skirt for the first (and maybe last) time since I have received it.
Don't you love when you think that summer has ended and all of a sudden you have one of these glorious days just to remind you of how good it was (obviously I'm not a winter person)?
So here is the outfit, with the Imperial tee, the crystal-buttons cardigan and BN flats:

I'm wearing a very old necklace by the French brand Jeanne and Cecile that my husband offered me as a birthday present when we lived in Paris and we weren't married yet. It reminds me a little bit of the Jcrew Symphony one, excepted for the fact that the cut of the stones in the Symphony are rectangular and these are (unevenly) round. But basically it's the reason why I haven't bought the Symphony (that I really love, but I feel like I should wear this one more instead of buying another one that at the end of the day has the same effect on an outfit). This is a close-up:

Anyway, I thought that I would just take a pic of it with the Imperial tee because I love how they look together and then take it off (we were headed to the zoo) but my husband insisted for me to wear it (I suspect more out of sentimental reasons than for style' sake). That's how he likes me, apparently: under dressed at wedding parties and over dressed to go to the zoo.

Have a great Sunday evening and stay tuned for my post on my first American wedding!

  1. i love your outfit. isn't the imperial tee the best?!!! it's better than a basic white tee, but functions just the same because it goes with everything.

  2. What a pretty necklace! And I love the way you've styled the Imperial Tee! So many times I've put it on just to take it off again - something about it didn't seem *right* -- maybe I just need to try and find that skirt as a popback and I'll have the perfect outfit! :)

  3. I love this post. I know exactly how you feel with the laziness that comes with the cold. It's a real boo-hoo!
Love that necklace, with such a lovely history too.

  4. I love that necklace it is gorgeous - your husband did a great job picking it out! Love the skirt of course and I still want the Imperial tee but have never had the luck of finding one!

I'm also very jealous to hear of this upcoming Caribbean vacation!!

I think I'm the opposite. Hot weather makes me lazy I don't want to go out and do anything but as soon as Fall arrives and the weather cools I love being outside. I imagine when it's freezing it's not a lot of fun to live in NYC though.

  7. Hi Ema, I like your blog - this is my first time commenting.

Your necklace is BEAUTIFUL!!!! Absolutely beautiful. With that, don't bother with the symphony!

And I'm jealous of your T - they disappeared from my store so fast so I positively snatched one off the sale rack last week - to find it was too big. :( Can't wait to see what you wore to the wedding.

  10. Patina, it's true, it goes with everything but it feels special.

RatsOnParade, thank you!You don't "need" the skirt for the Imperial tee but if you want to buy it I highly reccomend it (it pops back from time to time).

DaniBP, thank you. Yes this neclace reminds me of our first appartment in Paris when we had just started our life together. We were so young and our only piece of furniture was an Ikea table (we didn't have a bed)!

Summerilla, thank you! I read you post about being a "cold weather person". I like the winter around the holidays and the occasional snow but in NY winters last too much. I should definitively live in SoCal!

ina, you're right, this outfit looks very "myself" ;-)

HeidiG., thank you. I'm the queen of lazyness compared to you ;-)

mommydearest, thank you for commenting for the first time and thank you for the compliments on the necklace.
Too bad that the one that you found on sale was too big, but I'm sure that if you put it on sale on the JCA Weekly Exchance, you'll find a buyer.

Gigi, thank you. And thank you for noticing the new haircut, you have a good eye (I posted a better picture of it in the next post)!

mrs.anketell, thank you for being an enthusiast follower ;-)
