OOTE (Deco skirt and Posy cami)

Yesterday night we went out for dinner with friends. Just grownups. I can't even remember when was the last time that we went out without our daughter, it's like we emerged from hibernation.

The weather was warm enough to wear my deco skirt. I haven't worn a skirt in ages, with all the cold and snow this winter, so I was very excited.

You have already seen a similar outfit in the past, but at that time I didn't own the posy silk cami yet. I'm happy that I have decided to keep this cami because the skirt and the cami are made to go together. I have to thank GigiofCa because it was mainly her comment that decided me to keep it. At the time of the crazy post-holidays sales, $19.99 for this cami seemed almost expensive (because I didn't get the 30% off on top of that price); isn't it funny how everything is relative? What was I thinking?

Anyway, here it is, with the BR velvet jacket:

I took the pic above in the afternoon when I was trying the outfit on. That's why I wasn't wearing tights, not that it was THAT warm (my stocking drawer is in another room and often out of reach when I try stuff on).
But I took the following ones when we came back from the restaurant (and you can see that I had tights on. What you can't see are the black Juliets heels that I wore with the outfit):

I'm not sure if I will have the time for another post today, so have a happy Friday and weekend everyone!

  1. I love the outfit! Great price for the cami. We also went out for dinner with friends last night, it does feel like coming out of hibernation!
I tried to buy that skirt. I was waitlisted forever, then one night JCrew actually PHONED ME to say I wouldn't be getting it, they were very sorry, and they were sending me a $25 gift card for my grief.
That was some good Customer Service!
Anyway, it looks lovely on you and I am so happy you got to go out! :)

  2. Hi Ema,
I love the Deco skirt on you! I purchased it back in Oct for my birthday and I always get compliments when I wear it. My question is other than black what colors do you like to pair it with it? I have worn the ruffled Celosia in the rust color with it but I need to some other ideas.

Also, I will be in NY this weekend and also on Mon & Tues for insurance & surety meetings. I would love to meet up and shop at J. Crew if you are free.

    My email is smu_sweetheart@yahoo.com

  4. DaniBP, I bought the skirt when it first came out, it was love at first sight and I'm glad that I did buy it before MO ;-).
That's an awesome CS gesture, you should tell the story on the JCA blog.

Emily, I really think that with this skirt it's better to keep it to black and white (including beiges on the top) because there is a lot going on with the pattern already. However I think that of all the other colors burgundy and a deep purple (like the purple that the silk posy cami also came in) are the best options. You could also try honey glaze/spice olive but that's it.

Mrs. anketell, yes it feels good!!!

  5. Thx for the shoutout. Your outfit is great. I agree to keep it simple w/colors because the skirt pattern is so striking and enough on its own.
