JCrew Fitting Room Pics, October Catalog (Part 2: Misc.)

This is the second (and last) part of my post on the October catalog fitting room pics.

First, the Drapey bateau tee in olive white ash. You have already seen it on me in a previous post but I wanted to post the fitting room pic where you can better see how it fits. This tee comes in XXS but I have to say that the XS was already a little bit snug. The S has too long sleeves so I went with the XS but I would consider the XXS only if you are really tiny. The fit is very different from the vintage boatneck from the spring, much more fitted. The material is a cotton/linen/modal blend and if soft I didn't find it THAT special:

Another top that in my opinion runs a little bit snug is the Haya sequin sweatshort. This one is AWESOME IRL if you like the concept of a sweatshirt with sequins and you aren't sequined out. I personally prefer it to the Jaspe sequined slouchy sweatshirt because the fit is less slouchy (and also because I am not a big fan of merino). Here I am trying a S as my store was out of XS and I really liked the fit, but again the sleeves were too long. I didn't buy it because I would like to compare with an XS and also because I am hoping in a tees and knits promo before the 25% card expires as I find $135 a little bit steep for a sweatshirt (even if covered in sequins):

The Lace tee had caught my eye when it came out on the website so when I finally saw it in the store I tried it on. I was disappointed, it was very boxy on me and sheer but I have to say that I saw several SAs wearing it and it looked nice on them, so if you like it and feel like spending $110 in a tee (it's not really a tee though) I would say to give it a try. This is an XS (you can see my bra and my pants):

Speaking of tees, my store had a tank version of the Bici tee, in an ivory/cream color. It fits TTS and it was $34 (I believe):

Next, the new Dream zip henley that I grabbed in black. I liked it more on the hanger than on maybe because of the color. This is a XS and fits TTS:

This is the only sweater that I tried on as I still have to wear my heathered lumiere ruffled cardigan and my dream draped v-neck sweater in cobblestone (that I could re-buy for cheap).

The next one took my heart away. It's the incredibly beautiful Elena shift dress. Unfortunately (for my wallet) it fits me perfectly and I have been looking for a dress like this for a very long time so even if the price tag is kind of obscene I think that I am going to cave with the 25% off (it's on hold for me at the store and two nights of sleeping on it didn't bring any resolution). As you can see I went and tried it twice already:

In case you are wondering, this one is not sheer (it has two slips, one to provide coverage and one for the nude effect).

Last, more reasonably priced (so to speak) and affordable item that I think many if you will like. It's a scarf that just came out in store in beautiful fall colors:

I didn't buy it because it was $59 but I might go back and get it before card expiration. If you need the style number I have it somewhere ;-).
By the way I am wearing the Wooly ribbed turtleneck which is really soft but also very sheer, at least in this fog color (I placed the scarf strategically as to be able to show you the pic of it).

What do you think? Do you own or are you tempted by any of the items that I showed you in this post?
This 25% is really working for me. I kind of look forward to its ending ...

Have a great weekend everyone! Again, if you have urgent questions, you can email me at crazyaboutjcrew@gmail.com as I don't plan on coming back before Monday evening.

  1. I like the colors of the Drapey bateau tee sans the sequins along the shoulders. I can't deal with high maintenance clothing anymore on a tee.
That Elena dress is stunning and if it wasn't for the $$ price tag I'd love to get it.
I wonder if they ran out of tee fabric for the sleeves so they just made some Bici tee into tank tops? (J/K!)
I can see how it's tempting to get a lot of stuff with the Mickey card but good thing for my wallet I didn't get one.
Thanks for the reviews and have a great weekend!

  2. I also love love love the Elena dress, I so wish I could think of an excuse to buy it. You are right, it is perfect on you, and actually it may be too short on me anyway as I am taller (I will just tell myself that).
With the 25% off I think you should buy it, no question. You will never regret owning such a beautiful dress!
    Thanks for the reviews.

  3. The Elena dress looks fantastic on you! I really like the lace tee (haven't tried it on yet but it was very pretty on the hanger), so I'll probably try to snag it on sale. Even with the Mickey card it's too expensive for what it is. Thanks for the photos and reviews!

  5. The Elena dress is so beautiful Ema! No wonder you're tempted to splurge on it. Like DaniBP, it would be too short on me, but it really is tempting.

  6. Oh I have been eyeing up that dress I love it on you. What size did you try on?

  7. The dress is very pretty, Ema. Looks very similar to Escada and Milly lace dresses I've seen. I like the colors, the ivory under black lace, and sleeves.

I could see myself getting a lot of use out of the 25% off card in NYC. :)

  8. The Bici tank is interesting! Seems like it should be less than $36. I'm sure we'll see it in sale soon! The Elena dress is beautiful and looks perfect on you. Thanks for all of the pics! Always so helpful!

  9. Ema: I love the Elena dress on you. I've noticed it too (but haven't tried it on yet).

Can you tell me - how would you wear in cold weather?

  10. jcrewphd, I agree that the striped top would have been better (and cheaper) without the sequins on the shoulders.
I think that it's a little strange that they made a tank so similar to the tee, especially in this season.

DaniBP, I agree it would probably be too short on you. Glad that it meets your approval. If I get I will go on a shopping ban until the holidays. It's that worth it!

Andrea, I bet that the lace tee is going to look good on you but I agree that it's worth it to wait for it to go on salr.

Bell de Jour, thank you. That's comanding and I think that I am going to obey ;-).

A Bigger Closet, thank you. Yes I think it would be too short on you as it is borderline short on me.

Tabitha, now this is an interesting question because the size tag was missing (even the one sewn on the garment). But I compared with a size 2 and it was smaller so it has to be a 0 (it also felt like a 0). Our size is already backordered on the website so if you are thinking of getting it I would do it quickly. Sorry to enable.

Cleo, it also has the price tag of a Milly! Yes that card is definitively having the effect that MD was hoping for, at least on me (I have zero willpower).

AppGal, thanks. Yes that bici tank is expensive!

Lily Bart, I don't know yet but I wouldn't cover the sleeves as they are very pretty. Tights are de rigoeur and it's short enough to be worn with a short coat, like the Script one.

  12. Thanks Ema,

Oh I can't afford it just now, I've only just saved enough to hire a decorator to put my June birthday wallpaper up so it would have to come to me as a Christmas present, hmm, i really need a secret admirer then.

  13. Thanks for all the reviews. Eyeballing the Dream Zip pullover. Love that JC does the cashmere pieces in a less pricey version, with some of the same colours available. Waiting till Christmas sale though. Can't imagine how long that knit will last, have heard lots of negatives about the Dream stuff.

  14. Loooooooooved this post, thank you:) I have been eying the drapey tee, in the olive color, but too pricey for me right now. Looooove the zip dream cardigan in black that you tried on, I want one of those, they look so comfy and soft. The shift dress look AMAZING on you, I hope you got i!!!! Early xmas gift to thyself, right??!!!
A request: I would love to see outfits you styled with the dream draped sweater, in cobblestone color, I know you have it and I just recently bought it.....if you have time:)
