In my opinion, if you are going to wear this sweater with a simple tee you need a necklace to prevent it from going totally casual (not that there is anything wrong with casual. As you know I am casual most of the days). I decided to try the Northern Lights necklace in gunmental, that I bought a few weeks back when the stores were running a 25% off promo on jewelry (after seeing it on Andrea from The closet chronicles. Glear blog BTW, check it out if you haven't yet). I had a hard time in choosing betwen the golden one and the gunmetal and I went with the gunmetal because I have a lot of grey sweaters/tees for the winter.
Anyway, I think it looks great with this sweater:

For a look a little bit more sophisticated, you can wear a Victoria cami or other ruffled-neckline cami. I love the Victorias because they add some pizazz (is it really a word?) without adding bulk (but I don't wear them alone, only under cardigans). They still popback on the website and if you happen on one in your size I wouldn't hesitate to grab it, especially in a light color (they are even worth paying the shipping IMO if you don't have anything else to add to your cart):

While I am at it, I wanted to show you the Cashmere zip cardigan that I got yesterday with that crazy sweater promo that the stores are running (must resist buying 42 cashmere sweaters). I got it in the heather saddle color (which is as camel as you can get at JCrew this season) and I love it. I am happy to announce that this one doesn't suffer from tight sleeves syndrome and it hits me below my hips. This is my usual XS and I can even conceive wearing a long-sleeved shirt under it, yay:

Are you taking advantage of the sweater promo? Are you buying JCrew cashmere this season?
I am glad you got the Northern Lights necklace! The gunmetal is very pretty and it looks great on you. Love the victoria cami paired with your sweater.
ReplyDeleteI LOLed at "must resist buying 42 cashmere sweaters." You and me both! I am totally a sucker for these promos and the 30% off sweaters is mighty enticing. Must. Stay. Strong.
Love that Northern Lights necklace in gunmetal. It looks fantastic on you. Might have to splurge this weekend! I have the same cobblestone "yoga" sweater and was hoping to find the plaid popover but have not come across it yet. I bought the heather plum cashmere Cody cardigan yesterday; it seemed to run very small. Are you familiar with that color? Do you think a dark charcoal top would look OK with the heather plum?
ReplyDeleteLove the outfits all of them. Simple is chic. I really adore the zipper sweater you just got - one thing that bugs me about the JC Cashmere though is the pilling... do you have that same issue in your underarm area? Or are my underarms especially rough for some reason. How do you get rid of all the little pills?
ReplyDeleteAsk and I shall receive! Thank youuuuuuuu, so sweet and kind to run this post:) My ps told me to pair this sweater with a purple tissue turtleneck underneath, paired with jeans and brown boots......and she said a few necklaces, too, to dress up this sweater. Looks like you already knew the necklace detail, though!! Love all looks, thank you!!!! I also must check outthat zip cashmere cardigan, sooooo pretty:)
ReplyDeleteAndrea, thank you. You enabled me on this one. I think the gold one is prettier but I needed this color more.
ReplyDeleteThanks God we only have three days of crazy promos left. I will be completely broke by Monday!
shopalot, I happened to try the Cody in the heather plum color and I was wearing a charcoal tee and they looked nice together. It was really small though, like it had been shrinked in the dryer!
This week is the right time to splurge as apparently the stores have a 25% off jewelry promo again and you can combine it with your 25% off card.
emily, I have more issues with the featherweight cashmere than the regular cashmere (my crewneck cardigan from last winter shown no pilling at all). The more a sweater is fitted the more it will pill and the problem with the underarm area is probably due to you carrying a shoulder bag that rubs against it.
In any case a fabric shaver can easily take care or pilling. Read my post here. HTH!
mrs.anketell, you are welcome! I think it should also look nice with one of those microspun cowlneck tees. But yes, a necklace is "de rigeur" (a short one is better IMO).
The cardi looks really cute with the white ruffles! I almost got sucked in yesterday but I resisted. I am yet to wear the cashmere I bought this summer.
ReplyDeleteThe cashmere zip cardigan looks super comfy and super luxe!

Love the heather saddle cardi on you.
ReplyDeleteI also really like the necklace, and the fact that it isn't bonkers-big.
I won't be buying any cashmere this season, I bought some from Brora in the summer during their sale so my drawer is full!
I didn't really consider either of these sweaters, but they look so fabulous on you I may try them out before the promo ends. Tres chic, tres chic
ReplyDeleteThat Dream Draped Vneck looks fab on you. I tried it on a couple of times, but just didn't love it on me.
ReplyDeleteI hear you about being enticed by the Sale. I bought two Cashmere Cardigans today, among a ton of other stuff. Yep, guilty is charged.
I'm banned from buying anymore for two moths.
Is there a Jewelry promo? That might explain why women were pushing me away from checking out, in order to look-see the jewelry.
ReplyDeleteDoes this cover the watches as well?
