OOTD Featuring the Bayberry Flouncette Blouse

First, thank you so much for all the comments on my shoes dilemma ladies, I really appreciate you taking the time to give me your unbiased opinion. I almost reached a decision and will let you know soon (those of you who want to chime in but haven't yet, have still the time).

I have ordered the Bayberry Flouncette blouse during the last 30% off sale promo. I always loved the print (so fall-ish!) but because I am not much of a printed blouses kind of girl and I generally don't love collar-less shirts, I decided to wait until the price would get lower (I even resisted buying it with the 25% off card when it was $59 in stores). $27 was a price good enough to me to risk the final sale gamble, so I finally grabbed it and it arrived yesterday.
I love it! I have to say that this blouse is very pretty and feminine and also a perfect match for my toothpick premium twill pants (that I don't have many things to pair with because I don't have a lot of greens or purples in my closet).
The only thing a little bit annoying with the blouse is that the ruffled placket doesn't go all the way down but stops mid-way, leaving a (ugly) rectangle of sheerness between the belly bottom and the pants, as you can see:

So basically you need to wear a cami or something else under it (which I hoped I would get away without). I have a tissue turtleneck in dark slate from a few years ago that fits the bill but I am probably going to pick up one in the dark rosewood color to have another option (the dark rosewood should also look great under my yoga sweater in cobblestone. Hint to mrs.anketell!). Anyway, this morning I wore it with the grey one:

And then I added a necklace because it was a little bit too dark (this is from Fall 09):

Much better! My daughter (who is very much into beads and making necklaces right now) squirted when she saw it and asked me if she could have it when she is a grownup (I said yes). Then, she thought twice and asked if she could have it when she is a little girl (I said no but strangely she respected that and went back to her beads without shredding a tear). So cute, so cute...

I topped everything with my loyal downtown field jacket. Of course with this outfit I can't wear my "uniform" scarf, but did I mention that I have the umbrella in the same print than the blouse (I bought it before the blouse because I really needed an umbrella)?

While I was getting dressed I was thinking that I would like to add some green to my closet this year and once home I read a post that reminded me that I have a pair of green patent penny loefers by Prada that I had bought (or my parents bought for me) years ago and I didn't get to wear much. I am very happy to see that loefers are making a comeback this year and even happier that I have a green pair:

I tried them with my morning outfit but they are slightly brighter than the toothpicks and didn't work out together, so I created another outfit for them with the ochre toothpick cords from last year (I love these so much that I am regretting not buying a backup pair on super-duper sale):

You can belt the blouse with a skinny belt (but in this case I would go without necklace):

Do you have the bayberry flouncette blouse? What do you wear it with?

I have a mom's night out tonight. Stay tuned for the outfit tomorrow!

  1. Thank you for sharing your ideas. I bought this blouse with my Mickey card. I love the pattern but I still haven't decided whether I'm keeping it or not (my 30 days are winding down quickly though so I do need to decide soon). I like it with my black minnies. I'm glad to see some other ideas - I need some to push me over the edge into keeping it!

    You look beautiful, as always!

  2. Hi
I ordered this blouse along with some other stuff during the last 30% promo. I normally wear a size 2 but got the 4 because I thought it ran smaller. It looked just right when I tried it on, but now after seeing it on you, I'm thinking mine might have actually been a little too loose and boxy. The fit is great on you. I also love it paired with the turtleneck and the jacket!

  3. I love that blouse. If I was buying things like I was last year I definitely would have bought it: love the colors.
Your Prada loafers are the best! Love them, and what a saucy take on a traditional loafer.

  4. Oh my goodness. I'm in love with those loafers! Such a fun pair of shoes... I love how you paired them with the olive-y cords. You've given me lots of ideas (as always), so thank you!

  5. Great idea to pair turtleneck with a blouse, very cool weather appropriate. And green shoes? Just lovely.
