I can't believe it's already spring break and I am packing again. We leave tomorrow morning for our annual Caribbean vacation, this time we are going to the Dominican Republic. We have been there years ago, pre-baby and it is an easy destination (direct flight, all-inclusive hotel plan, just bring your sunscreen).
It is going to be a relaxing (hopefully) and low-key vacation, nothing fancy, but I have decided that I am going to bring the fresco floral (or is it floral fresco) capris because hey, if I am not going to wear them on a tropical vacation where am I going to wear them?
I hadn't really thought about how to style these pants until yesterday when I was trying to find something to wear with them. It was quite challanging because the navy background isn't THAT navy and the green flowers aren't the type of green that I usually wear (I gravitate towards aqua/turquoise but the greens in the pants range from spearmint, that washes me out a bit, to a dark seaweed green). I think that of all the options, this Zara ruffles top is the best:
I also liked the tulip cami from last year, that has a little peplum thing going on (even if the dragonfly blue is not the same blue I think it works):
I also tried a completely different color on top, like this pink retro shell from last year but I think I prefer tonal pairings, what do you think?
In any case all the options above are too dressy for this kind of vacation. I have the pintuck v-neck tee (now on sale for $14.99) in spearmint, but that one it is too casual/sloppy for the pants. Had I thought about it in advance I would have ordered the linen cowlneck tee in caribbean green but it was too late and it wouldn't have arrived in time for the trip.
This Calypso tee, in a gorgeous emerald green color is exactly what I was looking for. The linen texture (that you can't see in the pic) gives it a little shine that makes it more special than your regular cotton tee. The color is gorgeous and richer than in the pic:
I have a few Calypso linen tees and I love them, they are pricey and I usually buy them on sale at the end of the season but in this case I needed it now and I used a store credit that paid for half of it.
That's it. I am a bit behind in packing (as usual), so I am going to say "see you in a week"!
Which of the options above do you like the best? If you have any suggestion on how to style the fresco pants, please share!
I love the Calypso tee with the pants, super cute! Have a great time on your vacation
ReplyDeleteI love the first 2 tops and I say wear them. It doesn't matter if the vacation is low key. Dress the way that makes you the happiest and enjoy. I always bring clothes that I love on vacation. It's my time to relax and feel amazing. I dont care what anyone else is wearing. Have an awesome time Ema!
ReplyDeletei like it with navy(first picture)the best, but i would just wear it with a white tee.
ReplyDeletehave a great vacation!!!!
I think you should wear with a blue top one day and a green another day. You'll get more out of it and less to pack!
ReplyDeleteI love the pants with the linen tulip cami: perfect.
ReplyDeleteThey also look great with your new tee from Calypso, but bring the linen for a different option!
Ema I'm coming to NYC in 2 months and I've already started packing. This is how we are different.
I will email you when you get back from your trip, I hope we can meet while I am there!
Have a great and relaxing holiday and safe travels!
Like Dani I love it with the tulip cami, I think the shape and proportions are very flattering but I also agree that wearing it with a simple white tee and maybe a green necklace would be prefect too.
ReplyDeleteHave a great and relaxing vacation!!!

ReplyDeletehope you are having a wonderful vacation! The pants look great on you, with all of the top options!

ReplyDeleteHi Ema, I remember you posting about the Liearc Morpho Slim Stomach cream (and the Italian version) some months ago. How did it work out? Did you have to keep using the cream or did the results stay without it? Thanks :)
