They had a new "cascading ruffles" tank, that retails for $35. Several colors available, I tried the lavender and the slate:

It was cuter on the hanger than on me, a little bit boxy IMO. They also had the soft tee ruffle top (item 16068, it retails for $39.50) that has been available on the website for a while now but I hadn't the chance to try on yet. It's very cute but it runs really big (you would think that they had learned from the past). Trying a XS in fresh melon:

I liked this new jeans shirt-jacket, the fabric is very soft. But the price is on the expensive side ($98). I tried a 0 with the tweed mica mini to see if it could be worn in a sophisticated way:

Not really ... Then I tried this pencil skirt, which was selling very fast. They didn't have my size and actually the only one left was a 2:

They also had a pair of 3" shorts and a cardigan in the same pattern (BTW, the fabric of the shorts and the skirt is textured, not printed). In case you're wondering, the pattern is composed of lezards eating each other's tail (but it looks like a geo print from afar):

I have noticed that they have re-issued many items of the past catalogs in new colors. The Monterey skirt now comes in a light blue and beige vertical stripes pattern:

And the short striped cardigan now comes in navy (very cute):

I think I'm done with the new arrivals. I didn't buy anything this time. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer. Have a nice day!
I purchased one of the Soft Tee Ruffle Tanks, in that peach color! I love mine!! Wore it on Saturday, with a white tank underneath (it works best with a think tank underneath, since it runs so big) and a gray/silver necklace, and threw my white cardigan over it. I think it's going to be my summer "go-to" tank! I also love that first tank, the ruffle/tuxedo one and i love that pencil skirt!!! Thanks for posting these items!!!
ReplyDeletethanks for posting the pictures!
ReplyDeletei am not near a store, so it helps a lot.
how did the new cascading ruffles tank fit? TTS or big? i have such a problem because i am a true xs and a lot of the xs are huge on me and i cant size down.
love the micro mini, its definitly on my want list.
ina
i'm on the fence about the lizard skirt...kind of cute! but i'd have to see it in person to know if the lizards are too lizardy or if they blend in okay. can't wait to see all the new stuff online though! Thanks so much for sharing! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the skirts and the sweater! I'm not a huge fan of the cascading ruffles tank...if it can make you look boxy, I don't even want to think about how it would look on me!
ReplyDeleteI think JC is taking vanity sizing to a whole new level! I just bought the ruffles tank in an XS-- and I usually take a small or medium! If you are a true mall or extra small these would be huge and boxy! I found every color fit a little differently. I bought the nude/beige one and love it!
ReplyDeleteI actually like the skirt pattern because I thought they were alligators at first! We're Gtaors fans!
LOVE the jean shirt jacket on you! I didn't even see that in my B&M!
Thanks for sharing!
WOW~ Thanks for sharing! I was at my local JC this past Friday and I did not see ANY of these items- well, except for the soft tee ruffle tank! Thanks again! :)
ReplyDeleteMrs.anketell, if I hadn't purchased the "first" ruffle tank I would buy this one, definitively cute, even if as big as the first one.
ReplyDeleteIna, the new tank doesn't run as big as the ruffle tank but it wasn't as flattering, at least on me. Lindsay B. has a detailed review on her blog (http://objectsofmyclosetsaffection.blogspot.com/2009/06/brand-new-j-crew-top.html).
AppGal, it's very subtle (they looked like some sort of chain links from afar) and the skirt is definitively very nice (going fast!)
Zoe Moet, you never know, maybe this tank will look great on you!
Stephanie, now that I think about it, they are probably alligators and not lizards! I saw the shirt in another store styled with a rough men's belt, very cute. However, it looks like something that I already have (or used to have) and $98 is a little bit too much for a jean shirt.
MMM, you're welcome, happy to show something that you haven't seen in your local store yet. Sometimes it's a little bit overwhelming when we are in the stores and we miss something that we might like (it happens to me all the times).
Love the lizard skirt and the jean shirt jacket. I wish they would stop with the new arrivals so I could get a chance to appreciate what I have. Gosh.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the pics!! Lots to think about...
ReplyDeleteThanks for modeling! I love the denim jacket and the navy striped cardigan on you. The ruffles tanks are cute, but they look too long on you. I'm guessing they'll never come in petite. . . .
ReplyDeleteGenerally, the "short" J. Crew pants fit me better than the petites do, but so many of the tanks are toooooo long for me at 5'3.5" the petites in tops are fine.
Ur reviews are so helpful !
ReplyDeleteDid u happen to try the polka dot dress ?
Joyce, you're right, I still have to wear most of the stuff that I bought during the previous rollouts!
ReplyDeletefidele, yes the tanks this year are generally too large/long for me in XS. And I agree that the short regular sizes fit better than the petite in pants (I just had my first experience in petite and there is something wrong about it).
happy life, I know that I'm in a minority but I don't like the polka dot dress (too 50s for me, not my style at all), so I didn't try it, sorry.
Hi Ema
ReplyDeleteDid u come across the Jakarta cardigan ?
happy life, yes, I have posted a pic in the first post about the new arrivals. It was very cute but I don't wear much printed cardigans.
ReplyDeleteCute blog! I love the navy cardi and the pencil skirt! I agree that the ruffle cami isn't cute. Why are they making clothes so big lately!? Uh. I love the lizzard print too :)
ReplyDeleteGingerSnap, thank you! Actually I made up my mind and got the safary jacket, it's very versatile and incredibly soft. I love the "lizard" skirt but I don't wear pencil skirts that much (read: I never wear them) and the shorts are too shorts, so I will pass on this one.
