Among them I pulled the trigger on the Bubble Necklace in soft violet. Actually one of my best friends in Italy just turned 40 and I thought that I would offer it to her and, in case I really, really liked it (I have never seen it IRL), I would eventually order another one for me with another code.
I was quite impressed with the delivery times: no order cancellations (so far) and my first three orders shipped the SAME DAY. WOW Jcrew, I though, I forgive you for not sending me those beautiful earrings.
Well, I take it back. The packages arrived yesterday and inside I found exactly what I had ordered, but the bubble necklace came in 4 PIECES (5 to be precise):

Now, how can this be possible? It's like I have received a DIY kit, or an IKEA piece of furniture but without the assembly instructions.
At first I even thought that instead of going through the painful process of calling CS with what could seem like a big lie, I would accept the challenge and try to put the damn thing back together. I mean if I have all the pieces it shouldn't be so difficult, can it?
Well, I have compared what I have with the pic of the necklace and it doesn't make sense, there are stones missing and stones that are where they shouldn't be and one of the chain ends makes a no-sense loop (you can see it in my pic). It looks like someone at the warehouse tried it already and then gave up, put all the pieces in the bubble bag and sent it to me. They could have put a "good luck" note at least!
So now I have to call them and explain them the situation, wish me luck. I'm sure that they are going to send me another one with free overnight shipping but I'm upset anyway because I wanted to try it on me before ordering another one, I was afraid that it would overwhelm my petite figure. The only thing that I can say is that I LOVE the color, I thought it would be more "violet" but it's definitively pink.
I still have a libretto necklace in the dusty blossom color on its way. Let's hope that it's not another DIY project signed Jcrew.
wow this definitly stinks. i never had that happened, but a few other things, like wrong items or wrong sizes.
ReplyDeletei am sure they will correct their mistake.
but its no fun to deal with the hassle of explaining and shipping it back.
i love getting packages with jewelry, hopefully the next ones will be in one piece.
That would make me so mad. I ordered a knockoff from an etsy seller and it arrived in two pieces. It made me mad.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to ask you a question on my previous comment. Tell me about the facebook code. I am a registered as a fan of JCrew facebook but I didn't know about them.
ReplyDeleteHi Ina, yes it definitively stinks and it's the second time that this happens to me (the first time it was the palm-leaf necklace in the summer). The next one is the libretto, good news is it's harder to break that one into pieces...
ReplyDeleteRachel, Jcrew is offering no minimum shipping codes if you become a friend on their Facebook page. The codes change almost everyday but thanks to Alexis who's posting them ona daily basis on the JCA blog, we can all take advantage of these codes. Clic on this link for the latest code (FBSHIP)
Wow. That is one mess! Definitely call J.Crew!
ReplyDeleteOMG. I cannot believe that.
ReplyDeleteI have that exact necklace. I ordered mine from some seemingly sketchy ebay seller but it arrived in perfect condition and I love it!
It's like someone at the JC warehouse is playing a naughty trick on you!
Oohhh- I would be soooo MAD!!! Seriously, how does that happen...
ReplyDeletewouldn't it be fascinating to be a fly on the wall in the J.Crew distribution center? seriously - how exactly do you figure that happened in the first place! so very strange...
ReplyDeleteUGH, I am so sorry. I just ordered that same necklace last night! Let us know what CS says.
ReplyDeleteyikes! i'm sorry to hear about ur necklace:( although, it is lovely! the pink is just gorgeous. i'm sure they'll be happy to replace this since it was their mistake. j.crew coupon codes?? how do i get my hands on them?!:)
ReplyDeleteugh...that is awful--so sorry, ema! unfortunately, i can't even tell you the # of problems i've had with orders the past few months--ranging from wrong size, wrong color to entirely wrong item (over the summer i ordered a vita cami on popback, received the crocodrillo pencil skirt! insane!). jc really needs to get a hold of their inventory control team--there is no excuse for it!
ReplyDeleteon the plus side, i think your libretto should arrive in one piece! i ordered and rec'd this about a week ago, and not only is it pretty sturdy, it came wrapped very nicely--in one of those big brown boxes, twisty-tied to a piece of cardboard so it laid flat rather then smushed into a small box like the bubble necklace. nicely packed and pretty too!
hey ema - the gray bubble necklace I ordered awhile back was the same way for me!!!! BEWARE of the bubble necklaces! there is a reason they are so cheap. It's sad that you can't trust things that are marked way down anymore. I recently ordered a brynn dress because it got marked down so much, and there is a reason for that too - the zipper was totally cheap and immediately broke as soon as I zipped the thing up. waaaah so in short, I totally feel your pain!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! That is totally unacceptable. I hope they rectify it soon and compensate you for this mishap!
ReplyDeletewhoa. i recvd my libretto (carefully and nicely wrapped), but not my bubble necklace yet. that is totally crazy.
ReplyDeleteoh how crazy! I hope the next one they send is "no assemby required"!! :)
ReplyDeleteThat sucks!
ReplyDeleteWhen I ordered the bubble necklace they sent it squeezed in a little silver box. Touch wood it needed no assembly.
I hope everything works out with ur necklace
oh, i hope you purchase it again. now, with the 20% off, it's a great price and a beautiful necklace. I love mine.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if the bubble necklaces are this way but I noticed a lot of the jcrew bib necklaces (and the etsy k/os) use thin wire loops to attach the dangles. They should be twisting the wire around itself or using a heavy gauge wire for basic loops. So if you see a piece at the store take a close look at the attaching wire. If it is not twisted close, test how thin the wire is. If you can manipulate the wire with your bare hands, it is too thin. The loops will open and fall apart.
ReplyDeleteI hope you send this one back. What a disappointment :(
Oh no! Once again, someone in quality control is drinking on the job. I hope you get a replacement! Keep us posted!
ReplyDeleteHi Ema,
ReplyDeleteI just ordered and received the champagne fizz necklace during the Facebook free shipping dates. Every time I have previously ordered jewelry, it has come packaged in a nice box. This was wrapped in bubble and shoved in a zip baggie. It was still in one piece, but I got the feeling it wasn't given the same care as these pieces typically receive. Hmm...
