So I was really excited to bump into her. She smiled at me, I don't know if it was because she recognized my Script coat (I know that this sounds crazy but apparently she buys her cashmeres at Jcrew as one of the Rockfeller Center SA told me once) or because my face was screaming "OMG, I know who you are!"
Anyway that put me in a good mood. Just after that, I went to the Jcrew collection store to "kill time" (I had only an hour this morning before going back to my daughter's school for the 2 years old Thanksgiving feast). They had the most adorable holiday skirt, a Collection piece that I had to try on just to show you:

And yes, those are bows:

I think that if I were at F21 and this costed something like $30 I would have bought it just for the pleasure of having it in my closet, but this pretty lady costs ... $298 and I have clearly nowhere to wear it (no holiday parties in sight). If I were Tory (I am assuming that she has a more glamorous life than mine) and I were bored with my own designs, I would totally go for it!
After these two encounters I went back to my daughter's school where I helped her to eat her Thanksgiving meal. Not the most glamorous party you can think of but can you imagine something cuter than 12 two years old seated in their little chairs around a big table eating their Turkey? Unfortunately I didn't take pictures, but at least I have a pic of my quite festive OOTD:

The sweater is a Jcrew cashmere cardigan in bright papaya from last year that I love to wear around the holidays, the tee is a Old Navy from this spring (I love the "coral" print but it's a superbad quality, it piled at first wash) and the silver belt is the Jcrew deco belt that is currently on sale for $9.99 (I think that the silver is a retail-only color, I have never seen it online)! If you see one, grab it while you can, it's a perfect complement to many outfits and holiday tees.
I don't know if I will post again before Thanksgiving. In case that I don't, I hope that you all have a fantastic Thanksgiving!
That skirt is adorable! But yes, perhaps a bit too much at $300.
ReplyDeleteLucky you runing into Ms. Burch when you love her designs so much. I always just get really tongue tied around celebrities I like and try to just hide out of awkwardness ;)

How fun running into Tory Burch. That would have made my morning too.
ReplyDeleteThat skirt is really cute, but definitely not something I'd buy for the price. As of now I have no dressy holiday parties coming up either.
Happy Thanksgiving. Hope you and your family have a great holiday!
Like the skirt, but don't LOVE it, you know? I would probably be grinning like an idiot if I saw TB in person!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun morning - bumping in to TB!! And that skirt is darling. Glad you enjoyed your 2 yr old party! That's mostly the kind of parties I go to :)
ReplyDeletewow, how exciting. too bad she didn't have any extra cast offs she wanted to get rid off :-). that skirt is gorgeous. do the bows go all the way around?? if so, it's probably one you can't sit in, and therefore, not very practical at all. i don't have any big holiday parties to attend either..... most have been cancelled or scaled down due to the poor economy
ReplyDeleteHow exciting to see Tory Burch! I love the outfit you wore to your daughters party, so festive. A bunch of 2 yo's? Too cute for words!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the post on the skirt! I love it, but I can't imagine having anywhere to wear it to.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Seeing TB right away in the morning would make my day too! ;)
ReplyDeleteI can only imagaine how cute (& excited) those 12 2-year-olds were sitting at their *Thanksgiving dinner* table! Ahh!! :D How fun!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! Enjoy your weekend.

Ladies, I hope that you didn't think that I really wanted to buy that skirt at that price. I wanted to show the pics just because it's really a fun skirt for the holidays...
ReplyDeletegoldenmeans, not that I spoketo her!
Su,,erilla, your stardust pencil skirt is a much better investment I think! Happy Thanksgiving to you!
Dr. Drama, I probably grinned!
Sweet Tea, the problem with 2 years old parties is that I can't use them as an excuse to buy a new dress lol :-)
Patina, yes the bows go all around. It's a skirt made to stand with a cocktail in your hand or dance all the night!
Dani BP, yes I think that the papaya color is a great color for the holidays and parties in general. I usually wear it with the candy tee in champagne but that one was in the laundry bin.
MMM, I was surprised that they actually stayed seated around for almost 10 minutes (and I got to eat some turkey gravy too)!
oh my gosh, how exciting running into Tory Burch! What a great way to start the day!
ReplyDeleteThat skirt is over the top! Those are a lot of bows! It definately looks like something F21 would copy.
Have a great Thanksgiving!

Have a great Thanksgiving, Ema. I loved hearing about your encounter! & to me, living in NYC is extremely glamorous in and of itself! I thought the Collection skirt was cute, and you're right. If it was $30 at Forever 21 it would be darling. But $300 is so out of my range to be THAT uniquely styled.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving!!!! Have a wonderful day!!!
