Catalog-Inspired OOTD: Yellow and Pearl Grey

I really love the look look from the "Looks we love" animation over at JCrew.com (click here to see the animation):

The best thing about this outfit is that I can easily re-create it with pieces that I already own. Don't you love when it happens?
So this morning, I took advantage of the mild weather that we are having to wear my own version. Instead of the hacking jacket in tipped double-serge wool I wore my schoolboy blazer in pearl grey and instead of the matchstick cords in lemon gimlet I wore my old pair of bright yellow overdyed jeans from HO 2007 (I had just had my daughter and they are a size 29, even if with the recent vanity sizing they probably correspond to a 28 these days). Instead of wearing black under the jacket I kept it in the same tone (because my bag is grey and not black) and wore an old Zara cotton turtleneck. The effect is very similar and I received tons of compliments:

The yellow pants are one of those things that I couldn't sell or donate when I went back to my pre-pregnancy weigth even if they are not exactly my size. At least they are not falling off me and I can wear them with a belt (plus, sometimes in the winter, when we tend to eat more, it feels good not to have to worry about your pants being skin-tight). But if you don't have a pair of yellow pants, I recommend them, they are very cheerful and unusual.
I also like that I finally found a good pairing for the pearl grey schoolboy. Even if grey is a neutral I was at a loss about pairing them with other than black.

Have a good start of the week. I will be back with some reviews!

  2. I love those pants, I just sold my pair of 30s and I am your size. They have become too big, but what a great quality and color. You look wonderful in them. Gray and yellow are my old time favorite color combo.
