I stopped at the Gap the other day to make a long due return and since I am a sucker for cafe capris I tried their Slimmed cropped pants that come in several colors (there is a camel in store that I don't see online) and finishes. They are 30% off until Monday with code GAPCOLOR and 40% off in store, so they come down to around $30.
I took to the fitting room the french pink color and the herringbone. The pink is a very cheerful, lollipop pink (think Kate Spade or Milly) and I thought it will look great around the holidays.
This is the size 2 (I am usually a 2/26 in Gap pants):
They felt a bit big, so I tried the 0. The 0 fits perfectly in this color:
However the 0 didn't fit so well in the herringbone and the 2 was too big around the thighs, as you can see in this pic:
I tried different pairs in both the pink and the herringbone and it was the same so I would say that the fit changes a bit depending on the color. Go with your regular size in the pink or size down. I was between sizes in the herringbone and I don't need pants that don't fit me well. Too bad because I really liked them and I need a pair of gray pants. They are unlined but have no wool in the fabric components (it's viscose/poly and something else) and VERY soft to the touch (they are a bit lightweight for the really cold days so they are more Fall pants).
In case you are wondering how you can wear the pink pants, I am going to share how I plan to wear them soon.
Happy shopping!
I like those on you Ema and it is a very pretty shade of pink. I just bought boyfriend jeans and cords at Gap. I find that you really have to try them in person as every pair was fitting differently, even in the same cut and size. But I am very happy with what I bought, I will do a post next week.
ReplyDeleteYes, they had good stuff. I didn't try the cords on so I am looking forward to your post.
DeleteI just bought the pink pants as well and can't wait to see how you style them!
ReplyDeleteI have an outfit in particular in mind inspired by Milly, check back soon! Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteEma, tell me about your blouse. Maybe I like snake after all...
ReplyDeleteGiGi, I meant to post my OOTD at the end of the post but I had to cut cut it short as my husband and daughter were back from the park. I will share in the next post but it's a splurge so maybe you still don't like snakeskin after all ;-).
ReplyDeleteI just bought the bright blue and the "camel check" I tried the 2 and ended up with the 0, the price is great. I looked at the pink but I wasn't sure how much I would wear them. Should I go back?
ReplyDeleteKate, I think the pink is too much for everyday wear. I bought this color because I had a couple of outfits in mind for the holiday and I thought that the price was right for something that has limited wear.Hope this answers your question. I might go back for the herringbone, they look like designer pants.
DeleteI just responded recently on another blog that I wandered into a GAP myself, and tried on the slim cropped pants and was delighted with the fit and fabric. When the GAP does something right they do a great job for a great price. The pink is lovely, but out of my comfort zone. I can't wait to see how you style it!
ReplyDeleteI agree, they nailed these. Did you get them?
DeleteNot yet- I got a little distracted by the JC 25% off sale! I am going to go back next week and look. Especially bc the GAP always runs such great promotions...
DeleteThey are definitely worth a look, between the brights and the basics it is worth a look for the price. The glen plaid is really good I dont think it is on the website,
DeleteI think the sale is just till Monday
Thanks for the reviews. I haven't shopped at the GAP in a while, but these would certainly be worth the trip. I didn't think the herringbone looked too big on you. What was it that you didn't like?
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to see how you style the pink ones.
read your blog just this week and though I have not been in a GAP in ages*, I do like short pants that fit well and that I do not need to hem or alter. So today I went in and tried on these gray pants! They are perfect- not too tight, well cut, ribbon finishing in the inner waistband, seams all finished... and on sale! They have a funky polka dot print, a conservative black plaid and several solid colors. I got the gray for work. BTW, other not-very-expensive but well-fitting pants I like are: Target Fit 3, BR Ryan fit (only in the outlets); and a few years ago JC Penney Worthington petites... *The last things I bought at GAP, which I still wear, are about (eek) 10-15 yrs old- a really nicely cut summer cotton faux wrap dress and a smooth colored denim-ish jacket with cuffs, a back belt and lapels, also all the inner seams finished perfectly. Thanks for this tip.
ReplyDeleteGlad I could help to find these pants! I haven't worn mine yet which probably means I should have gotten the herringbone instead!
Deletethey have lots of them in my local GAP- camel ones and pink and red...and they were 30% a sale price...
